FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our professional music distribution service, submission process, and requirements.

Distribution

What is music distribution?

Music distribution is the process of delivering your music to digital streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and others. As a professional distribution service, we manage this process on your behalf: reviewing your release, preparing it for delivery, and distributing it through our established partners.

How does your distribution service work?

You submit your release (music, artwork, metadata, credits) through our platform. Our team reviews everything for quality and accuracy. Once approved, we deliver your release through our distribution partners to digital platforms worldwide. We manage the entire process from submission to delivery.

What platforms can my music reach?

Through our distribution partners, your music can reach major digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, TikTok, Deezer, Tidal, and many more. Availability may vary by territory and platform.

Do I need an existing Spotify artist profile?

No. If you do not have an existing artist profile, one will be created when your first release is delivered. If you do have an existing profile, provide your Spotify Artist URI or link so we can match your release correctly.

Does Release House own any rights to my music?

No. You retain 100% ownership of your music and rights. Release House does not take ownership of your recordings or copyrights.

Submission & Requirements

What information do I need to submit?

You will need: artist name and profiles, release title and date, track titles and metadata, songwriter/producer/contributor credits, copyright information, cover artwork (3000×3000px minimum, JPG or PNG), and audio files (WAV format, 16-bit or 24-bit).

What audio formats do you accept?

We accept WAV format only (16-bit or 24-bit, at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz sample rate). We do not accept MP3 or other lossy formats. High-quality uncompressed masters ensure the best possible audio quality after platform encoding.

What artwork requirements do you have?

Cover artwork must be: JPG, JPEG, or PNG format, square (1:1 ratio), minimum 3000×3000 pixels, maximum 6000×6000 pixels, RGB color space. Artwork must not contain URLs, platform logos, or promotional text.

Metadata & Identification

What is metadata?

Metadata is all the information attached to your release: artist name, track title, genre, credits, ISRC codes, copyright holders, and more. This information tells platforms who made the music, how to display it, and how to attribute royalties.

Why is metadata important?

Incorrect metadata leads to songs appearing under wrong artist profiles, lost royalties, inconsistent presentation across platforms, and potential distribution rejections. Professional metadata management prevents these issues.

What is ISRC?

ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a unique 12-character code assigned to each individual recording/track. It enables royalty tracking and identifies your specific recording across all platforms. Each recording gets its own ISRC.

What is UPC?

UPC (Universal Product Code) is a barcode assigned to a release (single, EP, or album) as a product. One release has one UPC, regardless of how many tracks it contains. It identifies your release as a distinct product in platform catalogs.

Playlist Pitching

What is playlist pitching?

Playlist pitching is submitting your release for consideration by platform editorial teams who curate official playlists. We prepare a professional pitch and submit it through available channels before your release date.

Does pitching guarantee playlist placement?

No. Playlist pitching is a submission opportunity only. Placement decisions are made by platform editorial teams at their sole discretion. No distributor, service, or individual can guarantee playlist placement. Be cautious of anyone who claims otherwise.

Release Planning

How long should I prepare before release?

We recommend having all assets (master audio, artwork, metadata, credits) ready at least 3–4 weeks before your desired release date. This allows time for submission, review, corrections if needed, pitching, and distribution.

Can I submit a previously released song?

If you are migrating a release from another distributor, you can submit it with the existing ISRC and UPC to maintain platform history. Contact us to discuss migration-specific requirements.

Can I submit an EP or album?

Yes. We offer packages for Singles (1 track), EPs (2–6 tracks), and Albums (7–12 tracks). For releases with 13+ tracks, contact us for custom pricing.

After Submission

What happens after I submit my release?

After submission and payment, our team reviews your release. You can track the status in your dashboard. If everything is correct, we approve and begin distribution. If corrections are needed, we send a specific revision request.

What happens if my information is incorrect?

If we identify issues during review, you will receive a detailed revision request explaining what needs to be corrected. You can then update the specific information through your dashboard and resubmit.

Can I make corrections after submission?

Yes. Through the revision workflow, you can update information that needs correction. We maintain a history of all changes. Post-distribution corrections may require additional processing time.

Pricing & Payment

Are the package prices one-time payments?

Yes. Each package is a one-time payment per release. There are no monthly subscriptions, annual fees, or recurring charges. You pay once for the distribution service for that specific release.

What happens with 13+ track albums?

The Album package covers up to 12 tracks. For releases with 13 or more tracks, contact us for custom pricing tailored to the scope of your project.
