Release Preparation

What Is Playlist Pitching?

Playlist pitching is the process of submitting your upcoming release for consideration by editorial teams at platforms like Spotify. These teams curate official playlists and review submitted tracks before their release date.

How It Works

Before your release date, a pitch is submitted through available channels. The pitch includes information about your track: genre, mood, story behind the song, and any relevant context that helps editors understand the music.

Platform editorial teams review submitted pitches and decide which tracks to include in their curated playlists. This process is entirely at their discretion.

What We Do

  • Prepare a professional pitch based on your release information
  • Submit through available editorial channels before your release date
  • Ensure timing requirements are met (most platforms require advance submission)
  • Include relevant genre, mood, and context information

Important: No Guaranteed Placement

Playlist pitching is a submission opportunity, not a placement guarantee. No distributor, service, or individual can guarantee that a track will be placed on an editorial playlist. Placement decisions are made independently by platform editorial teams based on their own criteria.

Be cautious of any service that guarantees playlist placement. This is either misleading or refers to non-editorial (user-generated) playlists, which operate differently.

Timing

Most editorial pitching requires submission well in advance of your release date, typically 2–4 weeks minimum. This is one reason why release planning matters. Rushed releases miss the pitching window entirely.

What Helps a Pitch

  • Complete and accurate metadata
  • Professional artwork that meets specifications
  • High-quality audio master
  • Clear genre and mood classification
  • Adequate preparation time before release date
